Madelynne Cornish is a video artist and sound recordist documenting the effects of climate and weather on built environments. In 2013 Madelynne was commissioned by the Liquid Architecture Festival of Sound Art to produce a series of sound recordings of the effects on the city of Melbourne for their Sonic City Festival. Between 2010 and 2012 she undertook a three-year study of indigenous settlements in The Kimberley region of Western Australia through TURA’s remote regional residency program in order to document the social and environmental conditions effecting remote communities. Madelynne has had a long- standing working relationship with soundscape composer Dr Philip Samartzis as an assistant sound recordist and has had outcomes from her fieldwork presented at numerous venues including the National Archives of Australia in Canberra (2013), The Fremantle Art Centre (2012), and the South African National Museum in Cape Town (2010).

Madelynne is the co-founder and general manager of the Bogong Centre for Sound Culture (BCSC), which was established in 2010 to investigate the relationship between industry and the natural environment through projects that focus on acoustic ecology and environmental sustainability. It supports cultural initiatives investigating the history and ecology of the Australian Alps including research, festivals, commissioned artworks, masterclasses and Artist in Residency programs.
