My ideas develop at the confluence of art, science, ecology, and mysticism. My work ranges from drawing, sculpture, and interactive performance. Recently, I have focused on the organic transference of energy from one state to another. In a series of realized and proposed installations and interventions, I highlight the poetic interrelationships between organic waste and the bacteria that can help us convert such waste into energy. For one self-illuminated sculptural project, scientists from the Laboratory of Microbial Ecology and Technology in Ghent, Belgium advised me in the construction of a series of Microbial Fuel Cells, which use bacteria to create electricity. An emphasis on the beauty and mystery of such alchemical transformation runs through my work, and grows from a process of personal introspection and interdisciplinary interaction.
