An ongoing project to create robots and automata that will evolve their own unique creative behaviour and signature. The DrawBots will each have an input sensor that will enable it to "see" the drawing surface immediately ahead of its own pen. We forsee similarities with certain kinds of biological behaviours like for example ant foraging where the ant moves about in a purposeful way until it finds either a source of food or the pheromone trail of another ant. The DrawBot pen marks will be like this pheromone trail and should enable both complex social interactions and sophisticated mark-making behaviours to evolve.
